About Vasant Jain Kitchen King Masala
Vasant Jain Kitchen King Masala is an all-purpose curry masala made for families who do not eat onion or garlic. Most kitchen king masalas contain onion or garlic powder, which rules them out for Jain homes and for many people during fasts and religious observances. Vasant's Jain version is made without them while keeping the familiar kitchen king taste.
The blend is long and layered: coriander, chilli, cumin, turmeric, curry leaves, kasuri methi, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, mace, star anise, caraway, ginger, Bengal gram and a little hing. Together they give a restaurant style depth to a gravy with only one masala to add.
It is at its best in Punjabi style dishes such as paneer butter masala, matar paneer, kadai paneer, paneer tikka and mixed vegetable sabzi. It also works in Jain pav bhaji made with raw banana, in dal fry, and in dry sabzis like cabbage or capsicum. Vasant suggests about one tablespoon per dish along with your other spices, then a splash of water and a few minutes of cooking before serving with hot chapatis.
Available in 50g and 100g packs. Masala365 is an authorised Vasant Masala distributor in Kandivali West, Mumbai, and delivers across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane. If you are in another part of India, send us a WhatsApp inquiry to order.
