About Vasant Kashmiri Rangat Chilli Powder 1kg Pack (Lal Mirch)
This is Vasant Kashmiri Rangat Chilli Powder in a 1kg pack, a size that makes sense for large families, tiffin services and anyone who goes through red chilli quickly. Vasant makes it from chillies grown in the Byadgi region of Karnataka, a variety valued across India for the colour it gives to food.
Rangat means colour, and that is what this powder is known for. It turns a gravy a deep, rich red while still bringing a clear spicy flavour, so you get both look and heat from one spoon. In Gujarati homes it is often called marchu powder, and in Hindi kitchens simply lal mirch powder. Vasant grinds and packs it in hygienic conditions.
About a teaspoon is enough for a regular pan of sabzi, curry or dal. Many cooks also add it to hot oil at the end of a tadka, which brightens the colour on top of dal fry or pav bhaji. It works in misal, usal, rajma, chicken and mutton curries, and in marinades for paneer tikka. Because the pack is large, fill a small jar for daily use and keep the rest closed.
Masala365 is an authorised Vasant Masala distributor in Kandivali West. We deliver this 1kg pack across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, and take orders from the rest of India through a WhatsApp inquiry.
