About Vasant Red Chilli Powder (Lal Mirch Powder)

Vasant Red Chilli Powder is made from hand-picked chillies grown in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, one of India's best-known chilli belts. Vasant Masala processes the powder with cotton seed oil, which it says helps hold on to the flavour, and grinds it in clean, modern facilities.

Expect a rich red colour and a heat level Vasant calls balanced, suitable for people who enjoy moderate to high spice. It gives food a proper kick while still letting the other masalas come through. In Gujarati homes it is marchu powder, in Hindi lal mirch powder, in Tamil milagai thool and in Malayalam mulaku podi. It is also a good choice for tadka, where a quick bloom in hot ghee over dal releases both the colour and the smoky warmth. Because the heat builds, add it in small steps when cooking for a mixed crowd of children and adults.

A teaspoon is a good starting point for sabjis, curries and dal, and you can adjust from there. Use it in marinades for paneer and vegetables, in soups and stews, sauces and dips, chutneys, and snack seasonings like masala papad or sev. It works for everyday Indian meals like misal and pav bhaji as well as when you are cooking something from another cuisine.

Masala365 is an authorised Vasant Masala distributor in Kandivali West. We deliver Vasant lal mirch powder across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, and customers in other parts of India can order on WhatsApp inquiry.
