About Vasant Rock Salt Powder (Sindhav, Sendha Namak)

Vasant Rock Salt Powder is finely ground sindhav, the salt that many Indian families use during upvas and vrat. Because regular salt is avoided on fasting days in a lot of homes, this rock salt, also called sendha namak, becomes the only salt in the kitchen for Navratri, Ekadashi, Shravan Mondays and other fasts.

Vasant makes it specifically for farali cooking, so it is sold as farali namak in many Gujarati homes. The taste is milder and slightly different from table salt, and the fine powder mixes easily into food without needing to be dissolved first. Since it is already powdered, it can go straight into chutneys, raita and batters.

Use it in sabudana khichdi, sabudana vada, rajgira puri, singhare ke atte ki roti, farali pattice and upvas batata bhaji. It also works well in sweet potato chaat, fruit chaat with lemon, and salted buttermilk on a fasting day. Outside of fasting, some cooks like sindhav namak on salads, cut fruit and roasted makhana. Pick the 100g pack if you only use it during fasts, or the 1kg pack if you use rock salt regularly.

Masala365 is an authorised Vasant Masala distributor in Kandivali West, Mumbai. We deliver Vasant Sindhav across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, so it is easy to stock up before Navratri. Orders from other parts of India can be placed on WhatsApp inquiry.
